The Today Screen Workflow: Start Jobs

The Start Jobs menu is where you can begin working on your assigned Jobs for today. In a standard workflow, you’ll typically access this section after you have completed the Start Day menus.

Watch the video below for a step-by-step tutorial on using the Start Jobs menu:

How to Use the Start Jobs Menu

At the top of the screen, you can choose to see only the jobs for Today, Tomorrow, or for the Week, similar to the Search screen.

Select the Job or Diary Action you wish to start to review its Summary or Details. By clicking on the arrow, you will begin the Workflow for this specific job. Depending on the type of Job or Diary action, there are different menus, tasks, and checklists the workflow will guide you through.

The standard workflow will usually start with a summary screen of the job details. It will then flow through job specific tasks consisting of review questions, menus, checklists, and sign offs. These tasks can assist in the following areas: hazard checks, origin walkthroughs, scope changes, valuation selections, inventory listings and signoffs, materials planning, on site billing, and time-sheeting.

The details of each workflow will naturally vary depending upon your company and the particular job or task you are working on.

Job Specific Process

When you start working on a specific job, you will enter the Jobs Screen. Up until this point the checklists and tasks concerned the general daily tasks, while at this point we are looking to the checklists and tasks corresponding the selected Job. The idea is that you follow the steps for the specific job. This is designed to help you, and make sure we don’t miss anything while on site with the client. The image on the right is an example of a Job Specific Process screen. Which tasks and menus are included here depends on the type of Job and your company settings.

This process will usually start with a Details or Summary screen including the details of the job. There might be further Reviews concerning readiness for the job, an origin walkthrough or questionnaires regarding InsurancesTerms and Conditions, or a Client Signoff at the end of the Job. In the example to the right, you see a ´Container Check´ questionnaire which will only apply to Sea Freight Destination Jobs. There are checklists and menus concerning Materials, Client SatisfactionPaymentSafety Analysis, Timesheet and many more until you arrive to Finish Job.

We will not go into details of the possible steps and menus since they different per company and per Job. However, know that each Job has its own workflow you will have to go through to finish the Job before starting the next Job of the day and finally proceed to ending the Daily Process. The day usually ends in returning the materials, registering expenses and time sheeting, final check on the vehicle and some other questions to finish the day. It helps you ensure that everything is done, and we don’t miss anything on the specific assigned job at the end.
