Mobi Barcoding

Barcode Settings:

Barcode settings can be configured on a Mobi Group level or on an individual employee level.

To configure settings on a group level:

Open Moveware > Administration > Moveware Set up > Mobi > Then Select the user Group > Settings Tab and search for “Barcode” to filter all relevant barcoding settings as below:

To configure settings on an individual employee level:

Open Moveware > Employee Management > Search for user > Select Groups Tab. Then change the Type filter to “Setting” and search for “Barcode” to filter all relevant barcoding settings as below:

To change the setting, simply double click the value field. Settings can also be adjust in Mobi through the settings menu. Each setting can be set to Admin Only=Y to restrict Mobi users from adjusting settings. Only if Admin only= blank, will the Mobi user will be able to adjust the settings through the Mobi Setting Screen.

Below is a detailed description of each barcode setting:

Barcoding Enabled (Admin): This setting is not visible for Mobi users and can only be controlled through Moveware. When set to “Yes”, Mobi Barcoding will be enabled. When set to “No”, the user won’t be able to scan any barcodes throughout Mobi.

Use Camera For Barcode Scanning: When set to “Yes”, the Mobi user will be able to scan barcodes using the devices built in camera as seen in the screenshot below. When set to “No”, the user won’t be able to use the devices camera for barcode scanning but they will be able to scan barcodes using external scanners connected to the device.  For use in the field, laser barcode scanners are recommended as they are quicker and much more accurate. Using device cameras as barcode scanners should only be used for scanning the occasional single item or for test purposes as it is more time consuming and misreads can occur from cameras.

If using Zebra Devices, please make sure to navigate to your dataWedge profile and set up the following settings:
Enable scanner input (default), Enable Hardware trigger (default), Enable Keystroke Output (default), Set Action key character as “Carriage return”, Enable Send characters as events under the key even options, Enable data formatting (default), Enable Send Data, Enable Send ENTER key.

If using a Keyence scanner, navigate to your device settings, Select “Data Output”. Then scroll down to “Delivery Type” and select “KeyEvent”.

Use Barcodes in Inventory: When set to “Yes”, this activates the Scan button on the inventory screen allowing users to scan barcodes against the inventory item. When set to “No”, this button is hidden thereby restricting users from being able to barcode inventory items.

Show Large Barcode Button: When set to “Yes”, a barcode icon appears in the top right hand corner of the inventory screen allowing users to quickly scan new barcodes. When set to “No”, this barcode icon disappears.

Use separate barcode field for barcodes: This setting controls the field a barcode gets scanned against. When set to “Yes”- the barcode gets scanned into the Barcode field on the inventory screen in Moveware (highlighted in Yellow below). If set to “No”, the barcode gets scanned into the No. field in Moveware (highlighted in Green below).

Using Barcoding for Mobi Inventories:

The process in which Mobi barcoding is used on the inventory screen can vary based on the companies work flow. The inventory screen can be accessed through the global Jobs menu or through the Daily work flow depending on preferred configuration. Once on the inventory screen, there are three primary ways to use barcoding when creating a packing list:

A. Creating Items by Scanning a Barcode:

This method is most useful to users who first label all items and later create a packing list.

The standard process would be:

  1. Pre-print labels

  2. The user attaches a label to each item to be inventoried

  3. Using a barcode scanner (preferably a laser scanner), the user scans the barcoded labels, which will automatically create an item in Mobi’s packing list, with the barcode scanned assigned.

  1. The user can edit the newly created item’s details (description, dimensions, condition, etc) as needed

B. Creating un-numbered items and later assigning a barcode number to them

This method is most useful to users who first create a packing list of all items and later attach labels to the items.

The standard process would be:

  1. Ensuring first barcoding numbering is enabled, the user creates new items in Mobi. On smaller screens this is done using the “add” button and on larger devices this can be done by simply selecting items from the furniture list displayed on the right hand side of the screen.

  1. Items get created without an assigned barcode number.

  1. The user attaches a barcoded label to the item

  2. The user selects the item on the packing list and then clicks on “Scan”.

  1. Using a barcode scanner (preferably a laser scanner), the user can scan the barcoded labels, which will automatically assign the scanned barcode to the selected item. E.g.  The Artwork and Aquarium below have barcodes scanned against them.

C. Creating items the traditional way and printing their respective labels as a last step.

Most useful to users who have a portable printer and only need the barcodes for completing a checkoff.

The standard process would be:

  1. The settings “Use Barcode In Inventory” and “Show large Barcode Button” should be off.

  2. The user creates new items in Mobi using the “add” option

  3. Items get created with a Mobi Generated sequential number

  4. The user writes the number down on the item’s packaging

  5. Once the packing list is finalized, a barcoded label report is generated

  6. The User Prints the barcoded labels report using a portable printer

  7. The user attaches the barcoded labels to each item

Using Barcoding for Mobi Check Off:

  1. Navigate to the Checkoff Screen which will show the user a list of all the actual inventory items the user added to the Inventory List.

  1. Click on Add Check at the top and select a Type and Location by clicking on the search icon (Magnifying glasses) next to the fields.

The user will notice the Checks added above the inventory items as below (Onto Truck 1 in this case):

  1. To check off items using barcoding, click on the barcode button in the top right corner (next to the wifi sign) to turn on the device camera and scan the barcode of the item the user wants to check off. For example, Artwork in this case is checked off at the time of loading it onto the truck. Once the barcode on the item has been scanned, the item in the Inventory List will grey out as shown below:

  1. Once all the changes including Adding Inventory and Checkoffs have been done in MobiCrew, please click on the Wi-Fi button at the top right corner (next to the barcode button) to open the sync screen as below, click on the Send button and select Send All. This would initiate the sync to send all changes to Moveware.

Once the sync completes, the user will see a Sync Completed Message on the screen and the changes will disappear from the Sync Screen as shown below. Click close.

  1. After the sync, below are the changes that will show in Moveware. Under the Job Inventory Tab, a list of the items added in MobiCrew will show with the Barcode number recorded in either the Inventory number column or in the barcode field (depending on the setting “Use Separate Barcode field for Barcoding”). After selecting the Check Off view on the inventory tab, the user will now also be able to see all the check-offs from Mobi.

How to Add QR Codes to Crystal Reports:

If the Server report needs QR codes, these can be set up by adding the following report filters in the report configuration:

Filter

QR code generate for:

QRCodesInventoryTag

Inventory No

QRCodesInventoryBarcode

Inventory Barcode

QRCodesObjectReference

Object Reference Number

If an inventory item specific QR code filter is added, a folder called QRCodes will be made in the Job folder and a QR code for each actual inventory item will generate in the format:

Job Number + ‘-‘ + Inventory No or Inventory Barcode (QRCodesInventoryTag or QRCodesInventoryBarcode).

For Moveware administrators editing the Crystal report, the location of the QR code is stored in reminvent.ri-sparechar1[7].

If an Object specific QR code filter is added, the QR code will be generated in the object’s folder with just the object’s reference number. The location of this QR code gets stored in inventory.in-sparechar1[7].
