Windows Update Settings

It is important that the following security parameters are set up on your workstation in order to protect it from unauthorized use and any potential malware/ransomware attacks.


Keep Windows Up to Date

  1. Access the search bar by clicking on the Cortana symbol [image-20240906-142618.png ]. Type “windows update settings” into the search bar.

  2. Select Windows Update settings.

  1. The Windows Update screen will display.

  1. Scroll down until you find “Change active hours” and click on it.

  1. Set the active hours on this screen. Windows won’t automatically update your machine during the set active hours.

  1. To adjust your active hours, click on Change.

  1. The Active Hours screen shows up for you to adjust your hours according to you preference.

  1. Click Save.

  1. Next, scroll to the Advanced options.

10. On the advanced options screen, turn the Update notification to On. Windows will then notify you when your machine requires a restart to finish updating.
