Daily Diary (Operations Diary)
The Daily Diary displays Operational Actions and is one of the most important windows within Moveware. It is also referred to as the Operations Diary or the Dispatch screen. It is usually its own menu in Moveware, titled “Diary” or “Dispatch”.
This module allows operational and sales staff to view the workload for any given day and to assess issues such as whether there are resources available to perform additional work or whether a day is booked to capacity. This window also allows an Operations Manager to approve dates and times and assign Labour and Vehicles to each action.
The Search Tab
The Search tab of the Operations Diary displays a view of current Jobs and Tasks by date. It shows all Jobs that have actions on the selected day(s) as well as non-Job tasks or activities that need to be scheduled or performed daily.
The Default View
The default view of the Diary displays Operational Actions which are populated from the Diary of each Job. Sales or Move Management staff will assign Operational dates through their Job. These dates will then display on the Operations Diary screen, where the Dispatcher will have the opportunity to approve the date and begin planning.
Overall Concept
The Operations Diary provides significant information regarding the Job and the actions to be performed. The features of the Search tab of the Diary window are described in Operations Icons and Filters. Additionally, the Operations Diary contains other tabs which are identical to the Jobs Management module (Details, Diary, Costing, etc). The Daily Diary provides the Dispatcher with the information they require to schedule resources accurately, and to communicate with other staff involved on each Job.
Some of the tasks that can be performed through the Daily Diary include:
View a full list of the workload for the current day, or for several days
Assign Crew members and Vehicles to Operational actions
Record the ‘actual’ Labour and Vehicle times for each job
Add one-off and recurring tasks for crew
Record Labour absence such as Annual Leave and training spanning multiple days
Mark operational actions as completed
Allocate and confirm starting times with clients
Lock the Day so no additional bookings can be added without approval
View full job details of any selected action.
