The setup for activating multiple languages in Mobi can be fully completed within Moveware. Setup is comprised of three stages – the first two must only be done once, and the third is user-specific.
The Moveware Language Table
This is the same as every other language setup process in Moveware; however, there is an additional table tag that is needed in this case – Mobi. This table tag contains all the interface tags required to translate. If it is not present, it can be imported and should be available in the Base database.
Important note: When importing language translations, please make sure there are no line breaks in the text as this will cause an error in the translation.
These line breaks are uncommon in the general Mobi language tables however they could be present in the “Rating” tables depending on your review question set up.
To remove line breaks, simply make sure that each paragraph is it’s own review question- if text contains multiple paragraphs then they should each be split into it’s own review question- for more details on editing review questions please see: How to Edit Review Questions for Mobi.
Other tips for the Moveware language table set up:
The lightning bolt icon (used to “Generate Language Records for the selected Type”) will only work if system parameter “sysparam-spare7[31]- Enable Multi-language Support” is set to Y.
When exporting language tables from Moveware, be sure to check the CSV file for special characters. CSV files can sometimes mis-interpret special characters so some fixing may be required.
When importing language translations, make sure the file is called “language.csv”. The browser won’t allow you to select individual files but rather will ask you to select the folder in which that file resides.
Set the Languages to Send to Mobi
Moveware has the ability to display in multiple languages and this ability can be used on Mobi as well. However, the user must set up the entries in Language table to translate target fields from English to desired Language on Moveware.
For example, if the client wants the interface of Surveyor AUS displayed in Spanish.
The translated words have to be added in Language Table as well:
Then set Interface Language in Employee Management > User Details of user AUS to Spanish.
You then have to activate the translated tables to actually sync with Mobi. To do that go to Administration > Codes Management > Type: Setting > Code: LangSyncTables
In the field Answers put the tables that you want Mobi to translate: e.g Inventory and set the Status to ‘Active’.
If translating different code Tables (e.g. Room, Method, imService, Destination, etc), make sure to separate these with a dash. For Example if we want to translate all of the above, the answers field should read: Codes-Room,Codes-Method,Codes-imService,Codes-Destination.
Now, when the Surveyor AUS login to Mobi then the interface where it is ‘Diary’ in English it will translated to ‘Diario’ in Spanish.
Set the User’s Language
There are two ways to set the user language:
a) Via the Language field in employee management. This is standard throughout Moveware. However, this may not be suitable for your needs and can therefore be overridden in Mobi settings.
b) Via the MobiLanguage setitng in Mobi, which will override the language. If set to English, the app will be in English regardless of the Moveware setting. Likewise, if set to another language, the app will display in that language.
If you experience any difficulties during this setup, please contact your Moveware Administrator for assistance.
