Mobi comes standard with a set of reports, reviews, and menus designed to be used as a “plug and play” solution for most companies. This is what we refer to as the “Moveware Base Setup.” While this configuration may work for many users, others will choose to customize their own versions of some of these.

Please note all reports and reviews come pre-formatted with a default standard built to best fit mobile devices. Users are limited in editing the formatting of reports and reviews. Some basic formatting changes may be possible via a CSS setting. To learn more about custom formatting, please see CSS for Mobi Reports and Reviews.

Below is an explanation on how to achieve:

  1. the Mobi standard (“Base”) Setup

  2. a mix of Standard (“base”) and your own Custom Setup

  3. all custom setup

There is a setting in Moveware that controls what Mobi configuration updates your company database will receive.

This setting can be accessed in the Codes management menu, under the code type “Maintenance”.

In this setting, any Mobi setup sections listed under “Exclude types” will NOT update from our base database Mobi configuration. Conversely, any Mobi setup not listed here will be overwritten when changes are done to the base Mobi configuration.

The options are:

  • Setting

  • Menu

  • Rating

  • Group

  • Rating Type

  • Help

  • msReport

  • Control

  • Message Type

  • Status Update

  • Paragraph

  • MobiDirectory

  • MobiReportSections

  • MobiReportFilter

Therefore, to achieve:

  • Using Mobi standard (“Base”) Setup = The exclude type should be left blank.

  • Using a mix of Standard (“base”) and your own Custom Setup = You can choose which areas of Mobi will update using the exclude field above, and/or create your own custom versions of your Reports, Menus and or reviews that will never be overwritten.

  • Using all custom setup = The exclude type in the code above should include all options listed above. Please note that this means also that you will NOT receive any new or improvements to existing Mobi menus, reports or reviews Moveware creates. This option is therefore NOT recommended. The best solution would be to create your own custom version of those you wish to (option 2 above). The steps to achieve this are outlined in the subsequent WIKI menus below.

Important Clarification: The exception to this recommendation is Rating and Rating Type (reviews and review questions).

Most commonly, each company will decide to create their own versions of these, and there is little value in receiving new standardized reviews from Moveware’s base setup compared to the time required to create custom copies of these.

The complexity of this is compounded by the fact that reviews are not only used in Mobi, but also in Moveware, MoveSurvey and MoveClient. We therefore recommend that after initial setup of your Mobi system, that the exclude types on the maintenance code is always set to display as a minimum Ratings and Rating Type
